How long should I take the propionic acid capsules?

Short-chain fatty acids are produced daily by intestinal bacteria and are needed daily by the intestinal bacteria, as well as by the human body. Regular use over a longer period of time is therefore recommended.

Can side effects occur?

Flatulence may occur. Otherwise, there are no known side effects from taking propionic acid/sodium propionate.

Can I open the propionic acid capsule?

The capsule can be opened, but care must be taken that the contents of our capsules are pure sodium propionate, which may react and cause irritation if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes. If you want to open the capsules, you should wear gloves and glasses. Please also make sure that the sodium propionate does not get into the respiratory tract.

What is the best way to store propionic acid?

It is best to store our products in a cool, dry place. Storage in the refrigerator is not absolutely necessary. However, please make sure that children cannot access the products.

What does propionic acid do?

Propionic acid has several functions in the intestine. It is released by bacteria during digestion from fibre-rich foods. This means that intestinal bacteria release propionic acid and other short-chain fatty acids from dietary fibre.

What distinguishes propionic acid from probiotics?

Propionic acid is an aliphatic short-chain fatty acid, in simpler terms a "defined molecule". The collective term for different molecules is probiotics.

What is the difference between propionic acid and propionate?

Concentrated propionic acid is corrosive, tastes sour even when diluted and smells very unpleasant. Ingestion of the diluted solution is absolutely harmless, but quite unappetising due to the unpleasant odour. Propionic acid tends to form salts called propionates. Propionates are white, crystalline and odourless substances compared to propionic acid.
