Krill oil is a pure, natural source of the essential long-chain omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and is extracted from the Antarctic crustacean species Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba). It is rich in phospholipids, a component of the human cell membrane to which omega-3 fatty acids are predominantly bound. Krill oil contains the natural pigment astaxanthin. This carotenoid is responsible for the reddish coloration of crustaceans in particular.

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for us because the body needs them for many functions but cannot produce them itself. Especially fatty sea fish such as mackerel, herring or sardines have high contents. But be honest: Do you eat fish several times a week? The reality looks differently ! Omega-3 fatty acids have many health-promoting effects at all stages of life: In adults, for example, they ensure healthy heart function. The two fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are particularly important for these processes.
