Did you know?
The bristly taiga root (Siberian ginseng, Eleutherococcus senticosus) is a plant species from the Aralia family. The plant is native mainly to northern and eastern Asia and can reach growth heights from 2 to 7 meters. Its dried leaves are used for brewing tea (ci-wu-jia tea) and its bark and root are used as medicinal drugs. The main ingredient in Siberian ginseng is eleutheroside, which is a multisubstance mixture formed from various substances, including coumarins, β-carotene, vanillin, and vitamin E, among others. Taiga root is traditionally used as a tonic and as an adaptogenic medicinal plant. It can contribute to lower blood pressure and normal blood circulation related to memory performance, strengthen the immune system and ensure mental and physical performance. Some studies have found an increase in fat oxidation during exercise with the help of taiga root1,2. The plant has also been shown in other scientific studies to help increase physical performance1,3. Furthermore, there is scientific data that taiga root may have a stimulatory effect on T-cell proliferation and NK cell activity, which are essential for a healthy immune response2,4.
