Astragalus is a very widely branched plant genus within the vascular plants with about 1600 to 3000 species. Native to Asia, the subspecies Astragalus membranaceus is known in China as "Huáng qí," meaning "yellow leader." It is one of the most important medicinal plants in traditional Chinese medicine and its roots have been used as a tonic for over a thousand years.

The most important ingredient classes of tragacanth root are polysaccharides, triterpene saponins – which also include astragalosides I to VIII – isoflavonoids, amino acids, fatty acids and minerals. Astragaloside IV plays the most important role as the biologically most active substance. The pharmacological effects of the ingredients have been well studied in vitro and in animal models.

The extract from the astragalus root is particularly popular with hay fever during the allergic period. Ideally, it should be taken four to six weeks before the pollen season and should be maintained during this time.

Astragalus Pro 500/50 sollte vorerst nicht während der Schwangerschaft und der Stillzeit eingenommen werden, bis hierzu weitere Studien durchgeführt wurden. Ebenso sollte bei einer Nierenerkrankung nach aktuellem Studienstand auf Astragalus Pro 500/50 verzichtet werden.

Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Astragalus und Tragant?

Astragalus ist der botanische Name der Pflanze, während Tragant der gebräuchliche Name ist, unter dem sie vor allem in der westlichen Welt bekannt ist. Beide Begriffe beziehen sich auf dieselbe Pflanze.

Kann ich Astragalosid IV dauerhaft einnehmen?

Die Einnahme von Astragalosid IV gilt als unbedenklich. Wenn du dich an die Einnahmeempfehlungen hältst, treten auch bei einer kontinuierlichen Einnahme in der Regel keine Nebenwirkungen auf. In seltenen Fällen kann der Wirkstoff Piperin geringfügige Reizungen der Schleimhäute im Magen-Darm-Trakt auslösen. Deshalb empfehlen wir die Einnahme zur Mahlzeit.

Für was steht IV in Astragalosid IV?

IV steht für die römische Schreibweise der Zahl Vier. Die in der Tragantwurzel enthaltenen Astragaloside, die zu den Triterpensaponinen zählen, sind dabei von 1 (I) bis 8 (VIII) durchnummeriert.
